Best Outdoor Exercises for Achieving a Flat Belly

On warm, sunny days, it is hard to drag yourself into the gym. Mix up your workout by going outside and doing exercises that give you a flat belly. Find out about some fun and effective outdoor exercises that result in a flat belly.

Mountain Climbers

This exercise gets your abdominal muscles tight and toned. Begin in a traditional plank position and then bend one leg and bring it toward your chest. Straighten it back out and do the same thing with your other leg. Make sure to only touch your toes to the ground so that your abs are doing all of the work. To make this exercise more challenging, find a slightly uphill spot outside to do this exercise.

Full Court Side Shuffle

Although this exercise is performed mainly by basketball players, it's a great way to burn calories and tighten abdominal muscles. Once you've found a tennis or basketball court in your area, start by bending into a low crouch with your hands straight out in front of you. Shuffle sideways across the court and then back again. Keep your back straight and you arms up as high as possible to give your abs more of a workout.

Kickboxing

Kickboxing is a great outdoor exercise since you need a lot of room. Begin standing with your knees slightly bent and your fists held in front of your face. Twist to the left and kick your right leg out as high as possible while extending your right arm out in a punching motion. Rotate arms and legs while keeping your abdominal muscles tight. To make this exercise tougher, hold hand weights while you are kickboxing.

Trail Running

One of the best total body outdoor exercises is trail running. You focus on your surroundings instead of focusing on the seconds ticking away. The variable incline of the ground makes your run far more challenging than running on a treadmill. Keep your abs tight and your arms pumping throughout your run to get a flat stomach in no time.

Pullups

For this exercise, you need to find a tree with a sturdy branch at the right height for pullups. Challenge yourself by jogging through your neighborhood or local park until you find the right spot to do this exercise. Once you've found it, grab the branch with both hands and lift your knees up as high as possible. Do as many reps as possible each time you exercise outside to build up the strength of your abdominal muscles.
